ROCKDOWN STAR (Djays Octane-Tomco Galaxy)

Owner: Paul Coombs
Kennel: Jade Feise Kennel
Trainer: Jade Feise
Track:  Naples-Fort Myers Entertainment Center
2015 Race Record: (59) 16-10-12-5

Rockdown Star punched her ticket to the BetAmerica Daytona 550 National Championship race with an impressive victory in the Floridian at the Naples-Fort Myers track.  In doing so, she defeated a talented field of greyhounds which included B’s Headliner, who was looking to capture the second leg of the Triple Crown.  Rockdown Star has the pedigree to be a champion. Her father, Djays Octane, is one of the country’s leading sires, and her mother Tomco Galaxy is now a proven producer of a very solid litter. Star joins another Naples standout- Red Utopian –in the quest to become the National Champion.

The black female, born May 2013, started her 2015 campaign at Derby Lane and steadily moved up the ladder to Grade A.  The St. Pete oval was not the perfect fit for Star and she was moved to the South Florida circuit in June. She responded well to the change, blossoming into one of the top greyhounds at Flagler. Her record there was (21) 8-5-4-1.  In November, the racing scene switched to the southwest coast of Florida. At Naples, Rockdown Star added three more win, and was in the money in all 13 of her starts. Her combined record from Flagler and Naples is a sparkling (34) 11-7-9-2

The relentless Rockdown Star can win a race going to the front or from off the pace.  In the Floridian, she came from four lengths back to run down the leader and win by two lengths. Facing some serious early speed in the Daytona 550, one would expect Star to be stalking the leaders on the backstretch. When they head for home things can get interesting, as Rockdown Star possesses a powerful stretch drive. Don’t take your eye off this determined female, as she may very well earn the National Championship title for owner Paul Coombs and the Jade Feise Kennel.
