Bigger and Better…The BetAmerica Bonus Series Races Into 2015

Plano, TXUnited Greyhound Racing is pleased to announce an exciting national stakes program with goals to increase fan interest, increased wagering handle and celebrate industry collaboration.  The BetAmerica Bonus Series introduces the “Triple Crown” to the greyhound industry. All roads lead to the BetAmerica Daytona 550, where a National Champion is crowned, but the addition of two new BetAmerica stakes races with a bonus purse of $20,000 add to this year’s excitement. "The addition of the BetAmerica Bonus Series is in line with our organizations objective to develop innovative ways to retain existing fans and attract new enthusiasts.  I believe the partnerships we are developing with our sponsors and track management will benefit our sport immensely,” adds Michael Frino, UGR Board Member.

The format is simple. The Bonus Series will consist of two qualifying Groups of races designated as A and B.  The Group A races will include the most prestigious stakes races in place at our major tracks.  Group B contains two interesting new BetAmerica races: the Kings vs. Queens Classic at Southland Park Gaming & Racing and The Floridian at the Naples-Fort Myers Greyhound Track.  The latter being a race for the State Championship of Florida.  “On behalf of myself and management, we are very excited to be hosting The Floridian.  I've always wanted to see a best of the best type event in greyhound racing.  So, being involved with the BetAmerica Bonus Series is very special and I appreciate the opportunity,” states Ronnie DePari, Director of Racing at Naples-Fort Myers Greyhound Track

The greyhounds that win the Kings vs. Queens Classic and The Floridian will each earn an invitation to the BetAmerica Daytona 550 at Daytona Beach Kennel Club & Poker Room. Those two greyhounds will have the opportunity (if they also won a Group A race) to earn a $20,000 bonus by winning the BetAmerica Daytona 550 on January 23, 2016.

"We are excited to be part of this growing movement in our industry which is designed to get our best greyhounds out on center stage,” explains Shane Bolender, Director of Racing at Southland Park Gaming & Racing.  “With the BetAmerica Bonus Series, we will get to see our top stars in this sport face each other on a national scale, which is what our customers are wanting."

United Greyhound Racing will continue its partnership with BetAmerica in an effort to promote and grow the sport.  It is United Greyhound Racing’s hope that these stakes races will benefit through increased significance and exposure, as they are now part of the BetAmerica Bonus Series.

“Partnering with United Greyhound Racing and Daytona Beach Kennel Club & Poker Room to offer the inaugural Daytona 550 was a great opportunity for us. We are excited to advance the series further, bringing more exposure to the sport and offering exciting events for our strong Greyhound customer base,” says Pete Laverick, Director of Marketing for BetAmerica.
